Atico Mining Announces Significant High-Grade Intercepts at El Roble Mine in Colombia
Atico Mining Corporation, a Canadian mining company trading on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol ATY, has released highly positive drilling results from its ongoing exploration program at the El Roble mine in Colombia. The company reported multiple high-grade intercepts of copper and gold, including one of the most notable findings: 10.20 meters grading 6.26% copper and 8.50 grams per tonne gold. Another impressive intercept measured 10.00 meters with 6.77% copper and 3.39 g/t gold.
Expanding the Ore Body Beyond Historical Boundaries
The results come from 21 drill holes completed in 2025 within an area of historical mining activity. According to the company, these findings have successfully expanded the tonnage at the El Roble mine, with ore grade intercepts reported over widths ranging from 0.27 to 10.3 meters. The drilling campaign has discovered important new mineralization that extends considerably beyond previous expectations for the Cuerpo Principal Inferior (CP) ore body.
"Our ongoing drilling campaign at El Roble continues to deliver important results, intercepting new mineralization while successfully extending the boundaries of historical massive sulfide zones," said Fernando E. Ganoza, CEO of Atico Mining. "These assay results reinforce our confidence that higher-grade copper and gold mineralization extends beyond the historical footprint. The deposit remains open both at depth and along strike, confirming significant potential within and outside the previously defined mineralized shell."
Detailed Drilling Results and Exploration Program
The exploration drilling program, which uses a 1% copper cutoff, has yielded numerous significant intercepts beyond the headline numbers. Some additional notable results include:
- 7.30 meters grading 9.93% copper and 2.56 g/t gold from hole ATD-0329
- 3.60 meters grading 10.14% copper and 9.46 g/t gold from hole ATD-0333
- 5.65 meters grading 5.94% copper and 8.72 g/t gold from hole ATD-0347
- 8.01 meters grading 7.02% copper and 2.78 g/t gold from hole ATD-0338
The company notes that true widths are dependent on uncertainties in the local strike and dip of the mineralization and are estimated to be between 90% and 95% of the drill intercept.
Continued Exploration and Future Potential
The goal of the 2025 underground drilling program at the El Roble mine has been to define zones of mineralization within the extent of the main historic massive sulphide body that were not exploited by previous operators. The program aims to expand the historically identified resource and explore for new massive sulfide bodies.
Atico Mining began this drill infill program to test the main mineralized body and the immediately adjacent area during the first quarter of 2023 and has continued the program with over 5,000 meters of drilling during 2025. The company plans to continue the drill campaign throughout 2026, suggesting ongoing exploration and potential for further resource expansion.
These results highlight the possibility of further extending the ore body with additional drill programs, indicating that the El Roble mine continues to demonstrate significant exploration potential beyond what was previously understood from historical mining operations.
