IKO, a global leader in roofing, waterproofing, and insulation for residential and commercial markets, officially broke ground on its new extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ontario, on June 12, 2026.
Major Investment in Canadian Manufacturing
The 67,000-square-foot facility represents more than $45 million in investment and marks IKO's first XPS insulation manufacturing plant. While IKO currently operates polyISO insulation facilities in Ontario, Alberta, and Maryland, the Brantford plant will expand its manufacturing capabilities across North America.
Once operational, the facility is expected to employ approximately 40 people in the Brantford area and will serve customers across Canada and the northeastern United States.
Strategic Location and Community Impact
Yekutiel Koschitzky, XPS General Manager and Product Innovation Manager at IKO North America, highlighted the significance of the investment. "As a company founded in Canada, it is especially meaningful for us to continue investing in Canadian manufacturing and communities," he said. "Brantford is an ideal location due to its strong manufacturing workforce, strategic access to transportation routes, and proximity to key customer markets."
The groundbreaking ceremony included IKO executives David Koschitzky (CEO, IKO North America), Henry Koschitzky (IKO), Guy Tremblay (Vice President, Operations), Yekutiel Koschitzky, Christopher Brown (Regional Manufacturing Director), along with Mayor Kevin Davis of Brantford and MP Larry Brock.
Part of a Broader Expansion Strategy
This project follows recent investments across North America, including the grand opening of a fiberglass manufacturing facility and glass mat plant in Chester County, South Carolina, and an upcoming plant opening in Clay Hill, Florida. The Brantford XPS facility aims to meet growing demand for insulation products and strengthen IKO's position as a comprehensive building products manufacturer.
