Aduro Clean Technologies Joins Chemical Recycling Europe to Advance Industrial Plant

LONDON, Ontario, March 26, 2026 — Aduro Clean Technologies Inc., a clean technology company specializing in transforming lower-value feedstocks such as waste plastics, heavy bitumen, and renewable oils into valuable resources, has announced its membership in Chemical Recycling Europe (CRE). This strategic move comes as the company progresses with its first-of-a-kind industrial plant in the Netherlands, aiming to enhance its commercial and regulatory positioning in the European market.

Strengthening Industry Engagement

Chemical Recycling Europe is a prominent European industry association dedicated to advancing chemical recycling through policy engagement, standard setting, and value chain collaboration. By joining CRE, Aduro gains access to a network of stakeholders across the plastics and chemicals ecosystem, including producers, recyclers, and downstream users. This membership provides a platform for Aduro to participate in critical discussions on mass balance accounting, certification pathways, and policy alignment, which are essential for scaling chemical recycling technologies.

The association focuses on developing regulatory frameworks, certification systems, and market structures necessary for the growth of chemical recycling. Through its working groups and advocacy efforts, CRE contributes to methodologies like lifecycle assessment approaches and certification frameworks, while engaging with policymakers to integrate chemical recycling into the European circular economy.

Relevance to Emerging Regulations

These activities are particularly relevant in light of emerging regulatory frameworks, such as the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU PPWR). This regulation is expected to drive increased demand for certified recycled content across packaging supply chains. As a result, the standards and verification systems being developed with industry input are becoming increasingly important for the commercial opportunity and market adoption of chemical recycling technologies.

Aduro’s involvement in CRE allows the company to directly influence these frameworks, ensuring they align with its technological advancements and business objectives. This engagement is crucial as the company transitions from pilot operations to industrial deployment, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving chemical recycling landscape.

Advancing the First-of-a-Kind Industrial Plant

Aduro’s membership coincides with significant progress on its first-of-a-kind (FOAK) industrial plant in Europe. Site selection has been completed, and project development is underway, including the advancement of a technology licensing package and the execution of the company’s first offtake Letter of Intent. This represents Aduro’s initial formal commercial commitment for production from the FOAK facility.

Located within the Chemelot industrial hub in the Netherlands, the FOAK plant is designed to demonstrate industrial-scale operation. It focuses on integrating Hydrochemolytic™ Technology (HCT) within an established industrial environment, ensuring compatibility with existing petrochemical infrastructure. This includes potential downstream processing pathways such as steam cracking, as well as integration with logistics and feedstock systems critical for commercial operations.

Continued progress at the Next Generation Process (NGP) Pilot Plant supports scale-up and integration efforts, further solidifying Aduro’s pathway to commercialization. The FOAK facility aims to showcase the practical application of HCT in transforming waste materials into sustainable resources, contributing to a circular economy.

Leadership Perspective

Ofer Vicus, Chief Executive Officer at Aduro, emphasized the importance of this membership, stating, “As we continue to advance our commercialization pathway and transition from pilot to industrial deployment, we are working closely with key stakeholders and establishing Aduro as an influential voice in how this industry develops. Chemical Recycling Europe brings together companies across the plastics and chemicals value chain working to advance how chemical recycling is implemented in practice, and we are proud to join and contribute to those efforts.”
