Quebec Couple Wins $40M Lotto Max, Plans Fishing and Golfing

A couple from Quebec is celebrating after winning the $40 million Lotto Max jackpot in the July 1 draw. Joseph Gosselin-Rompré and Mylène Bourgeois, residents of the Montreal area, plan to use their newfound wealth to enjoy more fishing and golfing trips, according to Loto-Quebec.

Winning Ticket Purchased in Montreal

The winning ticket was purchased at a retail location in Montreal. The couple, who have been together for years, said they were in shock when they discovered they had won. “We checked the numbers multiple times,” Gosselin-Rompré said in a statement released by Loto-Quebec. “It still doesn’t feel real.”

Plans for the Winnings

Bourgeois, an avid angler, said she looks forward to more fishing expeditions. “We love spending time outdoors, and now we can do it even more,” she said. Gosselin-Rompré, a golf enthusiast, added that they plan to visit top golf courses across the country. The couple also intends to share some of their winnings with family and help with their children’s education.

Loto-Quebec officials noted that the $40 million jackpot is one of the largest in the province’s history. The odds of winning the Lotto Max jackpot are approximately 1 in 33 million.
