Maritimers are paying less for gasoline this Friday morning, but diesel prices have increased, according to CTV Atlantic's Amanda Debison.
The latest fuel price adjustments bring some relief to drivers at the pump for gasoline, though those relying on diesel face higher costs. The changes come amid fluctuating global oil markets and regional supply factors.
Gasoline prices in the Maritime provinces have dropped slightly, providing a modest break for consumers. However, diesel prices have moved in the opposite direction, rising and adding to expenses for trucking, farming, and other diesel-dependent industries.
Industry analysts suggest the divergence may be linked to seasonal demand shifts and refinery maintenance schedules. The price of crude oil remains a key driver, but regional variations can occur due to local taxes, distribution costs, and competitive dynamics among retailers.
Consumers are advised to shop around for the best prices, as some stations may offer more competitive rates than others. The price gap between gasoline and diesel is expected to persist in the near term, barring any major changes in the global energy market.
