Robinhood Enters Canada Investing Market After WonderFi Deal

Robinhood Markets Inc. is bringing its trading platform and mobile app to Canada following the completion of its acquisition of cryptocurrency trading platform WonderFi Technologies Inc. for $250 million.

Deal Details

As part of the agreement, both of WonderFi's primary products, Bitbuy and Coinsquare, will be rebranded under the Robinhood name. WonderFi will be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange as a result of the transaction.

The acquisition was first announced in May 2025 and received shareholder approval in July of that year.

Robinhood's Canadian Expansion

Johann Kerbrat, senior vice-president and general manager of Robinhood's crypto and international divisions, stated in a news release: "WonderFi has extensive experience operating regulated crypto platforms that serve beginner and advanced crypto users alike, making it an ideal partner to accelerate Robinhood's mission in Canada."

He added: "We're pleased to have closed our acquisition and look forward to delivering innovative, user-centric investing products to Canadian customers."

Robinhood already employs approximately 240 people in Canada after establishing an engineering hub in Toronto in 2024.
