Eric Trump Faces Backlash Over New Trump Tower in Georgia
Eric Trump Backlash Over Trump Tower Tbilisi

Eric Trump on Monday drew instant backlash on social media after announcing that the Trump Organization will build a new Trump Tower in Tbilisi, Georgia, boasting it will be "the tallest building" there — and stating how "excited" he is to share an official rendering of the glitzy foreign high-rise.

Announcement Details

"I am so excited to share the official rendering of Trump Tower Tbilisi," President Donald Trump's third child wrote Monday on X. "With a prime location, in the heart of Tbilisi, this tower will quickly become a landmark as the tallest building in Georgia." He noted, "This marks our first project in the region and we are so excited to bring it to life!"

The Trump Organization claimed on its website that the "dynamic mixed-use destination" will be 70 stories tall and feature "luxury residences, world-class dining" and various amenities. The building is purportedly being designed by the architecture firm Gensler.

Public Reaction

Not everyone is as enthused as the president's wealthy son about a new luxury skyscraper being built in a post-Soviet state, however, as millions of Americans continue to suffer under high costs, inflation and the economic consequences of the administration's war on Iran.

Donald Trump famously promised ahead of his election wins to focus on "America First," only to brag about the billions of dollars he has raised, accept a $400 million jet from Qatar and then quietly grant the oil-rich autocracy a defense guarantee from the U.S. military.

"The Trump grift continues… To think these lethally stupid and gullible MAGAs twisted themselves into knots because Hunter Biden sat on a board and sold a few paintings," one user wrote Monday on X. "Utter hypocrisy and corruption are the MAGA ways of life."

Another person noted, "We can't afford food and gas and you're telling us about a high rise."

Allegations of Corruption

The president's son was notably accused of corruption last month when the Pentagon awarded a $24 million contract to Foundation Future Industries, a robotics startup for which Eric Trump serves as chief strategy adviser, which Democratic lawmakers said raises serious questions.

Eric Trump and his brother Donald Trump Jr. have also been awarded a lucrative U.S. Air Force contract to sell the armed forces branch an undisclosed number of drone interceptors as partial owners of a defense technology company, Bloomberg reported last month.

While the president's foreign licensing income reportedly increased by 650% in 2024 and appears to be growing, the Trump administration and Trump Organization have denied any ethical wrongdoing or illegal activity by profiting from such business dealings while in office.

Critics reacted to the announcement of a new Trump Tower with unbridled frustration, with many questioning the family's commitment to America First and accusing them of prioritizing personal profit over national interests.
