BMO Launches Blue Rewards: New Loyalty Program for Canadians

BMO has officially launched Blue Rewards, a new loyalty program designed to offer Canadians a more flexible and rewarding experience. The program integrates in-store, online, and digital interactions, allowing members to earn and redeem points seamlessly. Partners include Porter Airlines, Instacart, Accor hotel brands such as Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Sofitel, Rimrock, and Novotel, as well as MTY Group restaurants like Thai Express, Mr. Sub, Manchu Wok, Mucho Burrito, Pizza Delight, and Jugo Juice, with additional partners expected later this year.

Exclusive Benefits for BMO Clients

BMO customers can enjoy accelerated earning opportunities on everyday spending and travel. With a Blue Rewards credit card, members can earn up to 10 times the points on travel bookings (excluding cruises) and enhanced earn rates on gas, groceries, wholesale purchases, and electric vehicle charging.

Transition from AIR MILES

The launch marks the transition from the AIR MILES program to Blue Rewards. Existing AIR MILES Reward Miles have been automatically converted to Blue Points with no loss of value. Members' cards and account numbers remain unchanged, requiring no action on their part.

Program Features

  • More Places to Earn: Members can opt in to earn rewards across a growing network of partners, including Porter Airlines, Instacart, Accor hotels, and MTY Group restaurants. For example, with MTY Group, members earn 1 Point for every $1 spent using a linked payment card. Similarly, Instacart purchases earn 1 Point per $1 spent.
  • Blue Rewards Travel Benefits: A simplified travel redemption platform for flights, hotels, and car rentals is now available. Members can redeem any amount of Blue Points for partial payment toward trips, and points can cover entire trips, including taxes and fees.
  • Simplified Experience: Following the consolidation of Cash and Dream Miles, members now earn a single type of reward point, making the program easier to understand and use.

Affordability Focus

With affordability a key concern for many Canadians, Blue Rewards emphasizes earning rewards on essential purchases. Mathew Mehrotra, Group Head of Canadian Personal & Business Banking at BMO, stated: "Built around how Canadians choose to spend, Blue Rewards brings together in-store, online and digital experiences to make earning and redeeming rewards more flexible, convenient and seamless. Blue Rewards helps Canadians make real financial progress with a focus on making their money go further, every day."

The program is operated by a subsidiary of BMO, and additional partner earning opportunities and features will be announced throughout the year. Blue Rewards is available with new BMO Blue Rewards Mastercard credit cards, a Blue Rewards Chequing Account, and BMO Commercial Cards Blue Rewards.
