Two Lethbridge residents face drug trafficking-related charges after police seized nearly $400,000 worth of cocaine in the southern Alberta city, authorities announced Friday.

Details of the Seizure

The ALERT Lethbridge organized crime team, with assistance from the Lethbridge Police Service, executed search warrants on May 20 at two residences, a storage unit, and a vehicle. During the searches, officers recovered 3.9 kilograms of cocaine and 223 grams of methamphetamine, along with firearm ammunition, body armour, and $2,775 in cash.

The total street value of the cocaine is estimated at almost $400,000, according to police.

Investigation Timeline

ALERT said the investigation began in November 2025, focusing on two Lethbridge men. The timing of the search warrants was coordinated with a drug shipment believed to be coming from Calgary, highlighting the cross-jurisdictional nature of the operation.

Charges and Court Appearance

Lethbridge residents Drew Boake, 36, and Griffin Walkey, 21, have been arrested and charged with offences related to drug trafficking. Both are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

“Organized crime stretches beyond municipal boundaries and does not discriminate in how it inflicts harm on communities,” said ALERT Staff Sgt. Trevor Sheppard. “This case exemplifies how ALERT teams share intelligence and enforcement strategies to disrupt the drug trade.”

Community Impact

The seizure represents a significant blow to local drug trafficking networks. Authorities continue to urge the public to report suspicious activities to help combat the spread of illicit drugs in the region.
