The Vancouver Canucks announced the addition of Scott Hermiston to their front office on Thursday, continuing a significant overhaul of the team's hockey operations. Hermiston will serve as a special assistant to co-presidents Henrik and Daniel Sedin and general manager Ryan Johnson.
New role for Hermiston
Hermiston, who previously worked in player development and scouting for the Canucks, will now focus on evaluating talent and assisting with roster decisions. The move is part of a broader restructuring aimed at improving the team's competitiveness after a disappointing season.
Continued changes
The Canucks have been reshaping their management team since the Sedin twins took over as co-presidents in 2024. Johnson was promoted to GM earlier this year, and several other front-office positions have been filled or redefined. The team hopes these changes will lead to better draft picks and player acquisitions.
Hermiston's hiring was confirmed by the team on June 5, 2026. He will work closely with the Sedins and Johnson to identify prospects and build a stronger roster for future seasons.
