A 24-year-old man has been charged following a frightening incident in North Bay on May 21, where he allegedly attempted to abduct a child. The North Bay Police Service responded to reports of the incident and arrested the suspect shortly after.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the attempted kidnapping occurred in a residential area during the afternoon. Witnesses reported seeing a man approach a child and attempt to force them into a vehicle. Bystanders intervened, causing the suspect to flee on foot. Officers located and apprehended him a few blocks away.
Charges Laid
The accused faces charges of attempted abduction of a person under 14 years, contrary to the Criminal Code. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing. Police are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward.
