Windsor police have confirmed they are investigating a homicide after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death on Sunday evening. The incident marks the second recorded homicide in Windsor in 2026.
Details of the Incident
Shortly before 6 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the 300 block of Tecumseh Road East. Upon arrival, they discovered a 16-year-old boy suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police quickly tracked down and arrested a suspect a short time later in the 1500 block of Goyeau Street. The Major Crimes Unit of the Windsor Police Service has taken over the investigation.
Previous Homicide in 2026
This is the second homicide recorded in Windsor this year. On February 19, Sydney Cox, 44, was found unconscious in the parking lot of Windsor Regional Hospital's Metropolitan campus. The father of four was pronounced dead inside the hospital emergency department. Police later determined that he suffered a fatal injury elsewhere before being left outside the hospital.
Less than 24 hours after that incident, police charged Robert Joseph Labrecque, 25, of LaSalle, with first-degree murder. Labrecque and Cox were known to each other, according to police. Labrecque is currently awaiting trial.
A second man who drove Cox to the hospital was also initially arrested for first-degree murder, but prosecutors later withdrew that charge. On March 27, police arrested a 22-year-old woman in east Windsor for allegedly being an accessory after the fact.
