Calgary Man Arrested After Shots Fired, Standoff

Calgary police arrested a man early Saturday following a standoff that began after at least one gunshot was fired into a neighbor's garage in the city's northeast. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Falchurch Crescent N.E., where officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots around 2:10 a.m.

Police Response and Standoff

Frontline and tactical unit members quickly contained the residence. Staff Sergeant John Duigon confirmed that the suspect was inside the home. It is believed that at least one bullet struck a neighboring garage, and a weapon was also discharged from within the suspect's residence. The motive remains unclear, and no neighbor disputes have been identified.

Negotiations and Arrest

Following negotiations, an adult male surrendered and was taken into custody at 5:40 a.m. without any injuries. A subsequent search warrant led to the discovery of firearms inside the home. Multiple charges related to firearms offenses are pending.
