Heart Singer Ann Wilson Opens Up About Cancer Diagnosis
Heart's Ann Wilson Reveals Cancer Battle Details

Heart frontwoman Ann Wilson has spoken publicly for the first time about her cancer diagnosis, revealing the emotional and physical challenges she faced during treatment. In an interview with Good Morning America, the 75-year-old singer shared details of her battle with the disease, which she described as 'pretty scary.'

A Courageous Revelation

Wilson, who recently released the documentary Ann Wilson: In My Voice, was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. While she did not specify the type of cancer, she previously informed fans on social media that she underwent surgery to remove a cancerous growth. Doctors advised her to take a break from performing and undergo preventative chemotherapy. Together with her sister Nancy, the duo postponed their 'Royal Flush Tour' to focus on recovery.

Return to the Stage

Wilson returned to performing in February 2025, initially using a wheelchair. She described the experience as liberating: 'When I felt my energy come back, I went out on tour again and it was really great. The first night we went out on stage, I just said to myself, Well, you know what? I’m just gonna be who I am, I’m gonna take off the wig and just go out there in a wheelchair. This is who I am. And it was remarkably liberating for me to do that.'

Heart's Legacy

Formed in the 1970s, Heart broke through in a male-dominated hard rock scene, achieving fame with hits like 'Barracuda,' 'Crazy On You,' and 'Magic Man.' In the 1980s, the band pioneered power ballads with songs such as 'What About Love.' They were inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, with Soundgarden's Chris Cornell introducing them as 'two Joan of Arcs, standing up front, kicking total ass.'

Sisterly Reconciliation

Despite past creative differences and feuds, Ann and Nancy Wilson have reconciled. Ann told ABC, 'We’re fine. We are about to go into a new project together.' The sisters continue to inspire fans with their music and resilience.
