Two CISSS Health Centres Still Experiencing IT Outages
Two health centres under the CISSS network in Quebec are still grappling with significant information technology outages, according to officials. The disruptions, which began earlier this week, have affected operations at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé in Laval and other facilities. The cause of the outages remains under investigation, but cybersecurity experts have been called in to assess the situation.
The IT failures have led to delays in patient care, with staff resorting to manual processes for record-keeping and communication. Emergency services continue to operate, but non-urgent procedures have been postponed. CISSS spokesperson Marie-Claude Lacasse stated that teams are working around the clock to restore systems, but no timeline has been provided.
Patients are advised to call ahead before visiting affected centres. The outages have raised concerns about the vulnerability of healthcare infrastructure to cyber threats, prompting calls for increased investment in digital security. This incident follows a series of cyberattacks on Canadian hospitals in recent years.
