FIFA is offering fans attending the 2026 World Cup the opportunity to purchase “Super Shoutouts,” which will display their names on stadium video boards during matches. The package costs $110 per name per game and must be bought at least three days before kickoff. Currently, only group-stage slots are available on FIFA’s website.
How it works
In a post on X on Monday, FIFA announced the Super Shoutout program, saying, “See your name on football’s biggest stage.” The accompanying image showed three dozen names on a jumbotron, though the exact display method during matches remains unclear. The price has been reduced from an original $138 each.
Comparison with other sports
Similar programs exist in other sports. For example, the Toronto Blue Jays offer jumbotron messages at Rogers Centre, but the cost goes to the Jays Care Foundation, and fans can write personalized messages. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors allow birthday name displays, with the Leafs also entering fans into a raffle for a gift card. Toronto FC’s “Name in The Game” program lets fans submit messages for a chance to be displayed during matches.
Other FIFA complaints
With the World Cup nearing, fans have criticized FIFA’s pricing across the board. Accessible parking at Toronto’s BMO Field costs $74.99, and all parking passes must be pre-purchased with a valid match ticket. Ticket prices have also been a source of frustration, though they have fallen from earlier highs. FIFA briefly banned water bottles from stadiums but reversed the decision after backlash.
