B.C. allows learner driver knowledge test online at home

The British Columbia government has announced that learner drivers can now take their knowledge test online from the comfort of their own homes. The change, effective immediately, aims to make the licensing process more convenient and accessible for residents across the province.

New Online Testing Option

Previously, aspiring drivers had to visit a driver licensing office to complete the knowledge test. Now, they can do so remotely using a computer or mobile device with an internet connection. The test covers road signs, traffic rules, and safe driving practices.

ICBC Involvement

The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) will oversee the online testing process. Officials say the system includes security measures to prevent cheating, such as identity verification and monitoring software.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize driver licensing services and reduce wait times at physical locations. Similar online testing options have been implemented in other Canadian provinces.
