A 45-year-old River Valley man is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop by the West Nipissing Ontario Provincial Police on May 29. The incident occurred when officers conducted a routine check on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) operator in the area.

Details of the Incident

The OPP detachment reported that the stop took place on May 29, 2026, at an undisclosed location within West Nipissing. Upon speaking with the driver, officers suspected alcohol consumption and administered a roadside screening test. The test resulted in a fail, leading to the man's arrest.

Charges Laid

The accused, whose name has not been released, faces charges under the Criminal Code for operation of a motor vehicle while impaired. He was subsequently released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on a later date. The charges have not been proven in court.
