Four drivers in Windsor and Amherstburg are facing impaired driving charges, according to a report from Windsor News. The charges were laid following separate incidents that occurred over the past week.
Details of the Charges
The Windsor Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Amherstburg have charged four individuals with impaired driving. The accused include three men and one woman, ranging in age from 25 to 45. Their identities have not been released pending court appearances.
Police say the charges stem from traffic stops where officers observed signs of impairment, such as erratic driving, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol. Two of the incidents occurred in Windsor, while the other two took place in Amherstburg.
Legal Consequences
Under Canadian law, impaired driving carries severe penalties, including fines, license suspensions, and possible jail time. The accused are scheduled to appear in court in July.
Authorities remind the public that impaired driving remains a leading cause of preventable deaths on Canadian roads. They urge anyone who suspects a driver is impaired to call 911 immediately.
